Here are some tips and habits that will help you to keep your teeth healthy for longer
- We’ve been told to brush our teeth after every meal BUT it is very important to wait for at least 30 minutes after we eat so the acid(PH level ) in the mouth is more neutral and less abrasion is produced while brushing the teeth
- When choosing a toothbrush, consider that small round heads can move more easily in the mouth therefore difficult to reach areas are brushed better
- Fluoride is the most important ingredient in the toothpaste, it has a localized action and should no be rinsed out with water after brushing
- Minimize teeth exposure to sugar and acids, use a straw to drink carbonated drinks
- When out and about have a sugar – free chewing gum after meals to stimulate saliva production and wash way bacterias and food
- Remember healthy gums don’t bleed while brushing or flossing, to control gum infections regular cleans and exam are recommended every 6 months
- Drink water after drink coffee , wine, sports drinks, etc. to reduce staining of the enamel
- Cleaning between the teeth is essential for healthy gums and teeth, dental floss is the most common aid recommended but it requires a mastered technique, interdental brushes is an excellent alternative and chargeable devices are extremely effective and it is not time consuming “no excuses these days”
