WHAT IS GUM DISEASE

WHAT IS GUM DISEASE

Gum disease is a reaction (inflammation) to bacteria build up on your teeth.  this inflammation (gingivitis) can be one of the first warning signs of gum disease.

other symptoms include:

  •  bleeding while brushing or flossing
  •  redness of gums
  •  receding gums
  •  loose teeth
  •  constant bad breath

Gingivitis causes no pain, so it is very important to put attention to other symptoms specially bleeding while brushing or flossing, healthy gum don’t bleed, it gingivitis in not control the inflammation/infection spreads deeper into the tissues that support the teeth.  At this stage gum disease is called Periodontitis; as you loose bone the teeth get looser and looser until eventually they fall out.

The good news is, Gingivitis is an infection very easy to prevent.  A good oral hygiene protocol and regular professional cleans is all that is needed to prevent and control  early gum problems and stop its progression to gingivitis \.
