How To Floss Your Teeth Properly

How To Floss Your Teeth Properly

  1. Use 18 inches of floss
  2. wrap most of it around the middle fingers of both hands and grasp the string tightly between the thumb and the forefinger
  3. using rubbing motion guide the floss between the teeth
  4. when the floss reaches the gum line form a C to follow the shape of the tooth
  5. hold the strand firmly and gently move it up and down
  6. repeat with the other tooth
  7. then repeat the entire process with the rest of the teeth and use a fresh section of floss as you go

The purpose of flossing is not so much to removed food trapped between the teeth but to break down bacteria colonies and remove plaque.  doing so daily prevents gums problems caries and tooth loss.
